Raven

"One more thing, before you go back to resting - anything I need to know about the grub around here?" She smirks. "Not that I'm a suspicious soul, mind, but I didn't exactly volunteer for this." She waves a hand in the direction of the door.

Raven

"It's a gun and it'll blow your head off if I fire it at you," the Harbormaster explains.

"Ah." Raven considers this for a moment, frowning. "And if I stand down, are you just going to kill me anyway?"

Conner

"Her Majesty comported herself well on the battlefield." Conner comments. "I must make a note to have a poem or song composed. Its good for morale and historians love them." Conner grins. "I think I'll leave out Huon's elbowing me in the face though. That's the prerogative of the winning side after all."

Solange

Solange narrows her eyes and leans forward. "Wait...Brij? Julian's granddaughter? Holy crap, do you mean _Folly's mother_? DOES FOLLY KNOW?"

Celina

Somehow, the loud engine masks the emotions in her voice, but Celina feels the strange eddies of violence and sexual heat there, "Moire might have planted me in Khela's camp to be taken in. That's how far she might be thinking ahead. I need to know what she's doing in Paris. We look until the King changes his mind." Celina shakes her head. How strange a creature she is now: fueled on rejection and love and anger and lies.

Ossian

"Two things: Being my daughter is not being safe. And I do this for her, and for the family's safety. Not for you."

Garrett

"It was lots of images and a lot of force. And feelings. Strong ones. Kind of hard to explain. There was this wall of voices, people I knew, beating me down." He shrugs, realizing now why people rarely explain their own walks. "Doesn't sound like much, but I reckon you had to be there. Then I started remembering things. Things that people said that gave me strength. You were one of 'em." He smiles and squeezes her hand again.

Lilly

Lilly looks at him for a long a moment. "Well it would be quite difficult for father and I to open up and express our feelings to one another with you looking on..." she says while managing a neutral expression. "Because you know how sentimental we both can be."

Silhouette

“Ettorio,” she says in a motherly tone. “You ask the impossible. My work is of arcane origin –manipulating the laws of Draig-talamh to my will. This cannot be taught to the Unenlightened. Teaching you Mechanika at this point would be as effective as explaining Fermat's principle to a cave bat.”

Robin

"Gahhhh!" Robin hisses at him in frustration. Stupid men! Stupid words! Stupid men with words! When will she learn?! She should've gone with her strengths and just hit him right away. Instead of trying to *reason* with him. Men! Words! Pfui!

Robin (there are so many!)

“Things were... tense before. But since Daeon died? I saw the light in Dad’s eyes. He’s openly declared war. And now we’ve trotted two Pattern blades, three sorcerers, at least six wielders of Heritage and who knows what else into her influence and rattled it all around some. I’d be pissed if it was me.”

“Sooooo I suspect that the Dragon is a place-being who is about to rise against Arden.”

Hannah

"I thought you didn't want us to take the Mark so as to move freely in society. I never thought there might be another reason. So I have stood at the center of the universe, Papa, and felt it align around me, and I have seen the bonds that connect every thing and seen through the eyes of my ancestors," she explains, tearing up, "but if what I also did in pride was open a gateway to the people, then I shall grieve the mistake the rest of my life."

Jerod

On this day, the quality of Prince is defined by rage and Jerod fulfills that requirement completely.

The moment stretches a second, two, then three. To the outside observer, it is moments, to Jerod, it is near infinity as he focuses on the card, working to keep the screaming, mind-numbing anger at bay. It is perhaps fortunate that the battle was so recent, that tiredness is still there to keep the emotion from being unstoppable. As it is, it still threatens reason, though Jerod is still a Prince, and nothing rules the Princes for long.

"Do not undertake that action again." Jerod says, the first few words hoarse from the control he has imposed. "Ever."

Jerod

"If those who view your actions wish to provide you with a ready-made disguise, you should never be so rude as to correct them."

Random

"If you ever walk the pattern and there aren't four veils? Then you start looking for the missing city, or the new one."

Faiella-Bionin

"Faiella-Bionin - the Stair to Mirror Rebma; Ethereal Tir Na Nog'th - with its Own Stair from Reality's Realms," Brita cocks her head to the side. "So they are All Connected?"

"Yes, Faiella's gift." Benedict's voice is startling, not the least because he wasn't riding with them a moment ago. "Don't let Bleys tell you that it's mathematically required by his fancy equations. He wasn't there."

"Right, it's how we conduct trade and stay part of the same culture as Corwin and M-- Rebma and Avalon's built on it, too, isn't it Benedict?"Random raises his voice a bit.

Robin

“Vere is, is… *tttrrrruuueee*.” She leans forward, her eyes lit with intensity. “Not enough words in universe to say how… *right* he is.”

Paige

"Unicorn's tits, I hope that doesn't mean that Robin's aquired three affines. For the wild-woman of the woods, she seemed too Ordered for that."

Robin

“Please, Venesch.” She reaches a hand out to him. “A-all you h-have seen. All you kn-know. All of you that yet remains. P-please don’t steal that from us, just because C-caine’s an @sshole.”

Brita

Brita nods to Robin. "Before I too Leave, I will Alert Ranger Vista and Relay your Perception to the Regent," then with a slight smile and a definite twinkle in her eyes, she adds softly, "whether He is Calm or Not."

Jerod

"In the days to come, when change is rife on the waves, when the weak and the ambitious seek greatness for their own benefit, the time will come for each of you to make a decision. I expect you to look not to the benefit of your position, to your house or your wives and sisters and mothers. I expect you to look to the benefit of your people. You are the Guard, you stand where no others dare to stand, and you hold ground hallowed by your brothers' sacrifice."

"Do not forget what you and your brothers fought for this day. And let no one else forget it."

Fletcher

Fletcher smiles and refocuses on the speaker. "My philosophy is 'wherever you go, there you are.' If you had proper cause to bring this business to Amber I think you would do so on your own, invitation or no. So this must be a personal matter involving Bleys. I will relay your message. I'm certain that not everyone in Amber agrees with Bleys' position. Tell me more about what he's done now."

Assorted NPC's

Bleys:

"Well, it wasn't a very clever plan, so Mother [is] beyond suspicion. Also, she wouldn't want to kill me. Today."

Caine:

Caine looks around the table. "Your great enthusiasm for leaving my presence is noted and appreciated."

Huon:

He looks at her in the near-darkness, his eyes reflecting oddly, like a cat's. "It is yet another sign of how changed the world is. The champions of that place are implacable enemies of Amber, and even I would not be so unwise as to attempt to use them. It would either backfire or worse, succeed. Their goals and queen are ... not right."

Tomat:

"Either that, or else they plan to use me to trick you into violating some rule that they haven't told you. I'm not sure which, yet."

Celina

"Regardless, father can protect the Pattern or be thought a fool if he cannot. I want to put Moire in gaol for her bloody hand."

Vere

"I will not have the civil war in Rebma replicated amongst the Children of Lyr. Need I remind you of your oaths to me and to each other? Need I remind you that you are bound, by oath to the Throne of Rebma, not to bear arms in Rebma until your are released from the Children? There will be no marching on the city, to aid any faction, and there will be no dissension among us. Am I clear?"

His eyes meet the eyes of each of them in turn. "Am I?"

Silhouette

"So, you must fight for me, milord. You must be a warrior and your battlefield shall be my heart. Your weapons shall be tender words and strong actions. You shall chase and I shall take flight, as if we are Poseidon and Demeter of Antiquity reborn. You must seduce me. Possess me.
"And when I finally I surrender myself to you, milord, you will have won a victory worthy of a First Son. A woman worthy of True Prince."

Lilly/Brennan

"You win," she says to him in a quiet, somewhat breathless tone. "Yours is by far the most dysfunctional family I have yet to meet."

Folly

In one fluid motion, Folly pulls her lover through to her, slides one arm around him, and gestures with the other out to sea. "Hullo, love-- you wouldn't happen to know the guy in the boat, would you?" she asks calmly.

Her hand on his back is supportive, soothing, and searching for stray bulletholes.

Jerod

"If you are family, then you will learn very quickly that there is only one title of meaning to any of us."

Monday, August 10, 2009

Jerod

"I am a Prince of Amber." he says simply, making no attempt to dismiss or deny her regal behaviour. "We both know what that means. If you believe there is a title or honour greater than that, then I would never be so rude as to decline to consider it."

Dorothea, 8/4/09

"It is changed, and cannot be un-changed," she says, half to herself. "And should any of us return to it, we only change it again... and I am but the cuckoo's chick; what right have I to claim the nest?"

Conner

Meg learns one of the truth's of Rebma. Underwater, no one can see you cry.

Saturday, March 21, 2009

Robin:

"There was stuff. Fleeting, impermanent, unconnected stuff. ‘Cerulean’ bumped up against ‘giddiness’ floated around ‘the smell of wet cement’ rubbed shoulders with ‘grass.’ There was no straightforward linear time as we think about it. No discrete beings-who-are-made-up-of-stuff. Just... stuff.”

Tuesday, February 03, 2009

Celina:

To introduce her mother to her new honor guard---[Celina] schedules Moire for lunch. Seafood is menu, but the main dish is confrontation. Served cold.

Friday, January 30, 2009

Robin:

"I remember." Robin nods, "And yep, we should talk." The glance she darts to Corwin and Bleys says as plainly as day 'but not around these two bastards.'
